  1. Can you provide a specific example of a real risk posed by AI that such safeguards will protect against? And can you also explain how such safeguards will keep the “bad guys” from developing and using the technology? I’ll wait.

    Enough with the hype. AI is a tool, no different from dictionaries and calculators. Stifling its development will achieve nothing while depriving its opportunity to be a tide that raises all boats.

  2. Here’s what the “just use safeguards” people fail to realize:

    If AI surpasses human intelligence, it will build on that. It will be smarter than people, and will work around the best intentioned safeguards.

    Safeguards are futile.
