There are 9 comments on Biden Drops Out of Presidential Race—What It Means, and What Comes Next

  1. Kinda funny how the Party so boisterously talking of ‘preserving’ democracy defied the will of the 14 million people who voted for candidate Biden (waived flags and donated money) and pushed him aside – JB didn’t quit as much as he was forced out by the Democratic Party oligarchy (and BIG money donors) .. all that moral ‘high ground’ has been lost

And, forget about the ‘abortion’ issue, or really any of the multitude of other Kamala Harris weaknesses (and there are TONS – remember, she dropped out of the primary in ‘16 before the first vote was cast), The Only Question for her to answer is ‘When did you first notice JB infirmities and why did it take you so long to act?’ as she took FOREVER to call out his flailing while the country was left whipping in the wind, showing weakness abroad, and spending like drunken sailors at home – who was leading if JB wasn’t? And, THEN, she still has to answer for high inflation, the border crisis, and crime statistics that have crushed cities and communities all over the country.

We all just witnessed a hit job on a sitting president.

This is going to get MUCH uglier before it improves.

    1. I don’t think it is a “hit job” to help a person – including a president – recognize the dangers of old age. When I, at 90, recently fell down the stairs at church, the sexton was absolutely right to remind me to take the elevator! When I recently agreed to serve on a committee, I realized it might be a good idea to give in and get hearing aids. I am a Democrat and for some time I have thought an impaired person can not rally people to the danger of a Trump presidency. Harris may not win but I think she will bring energy needed especially to the down-ballot races where we need to have counter balance to Trump/Vance.

  2. ” there will be undertones, or perhaps even overtones, that she was a candidate chosen by affirmative action, and that therefore she was unqualified”

This type of intellectual dishonesty is everything wrong with Affirmative Action. Everyone knows that Kamela Harris was specifically chosen because she is a “woman of color” – Biden himself has admitted as much. The same is true of his Supreme Court pick. He specifically stated he would choose a “woman of color”. It is hardly an open secret; there are no “undertones” or “overtones” here. This is simply a fact.

If race and gender are utilized as selection criteria – in any fashion whatsoever – then you are, by definition, compromising merit as the sole deciding factor. It does not mater now how much she was qualified otherwise. Other candidates were qualified, too. But she was given preference for non-merit based characteristics of race and gender. Please explain to me – using reason and logical argument, not angry emotion please – how she is the most qualified candidate? And why it would be improper for the Republicans to point out the fact that she was NOT chosen on the sole basis of merit. Is that not the case?

If you believe race and gender trump merit, then take pride in that fact. Own it. But, when you openly promote utilizing race/gender as selection criteria in lieu of merit, then you lose the right to call your opponent a “racist” or “sexist” when they are simply pointing out your preferred method of selection!

    1. You say that “everyone knows” that Harris was selected for VP based on her race and gender, which is patently false. It is no more self-evident than the proposition that Mike Pence was selected for the same position based on his race and gender. If “Biden himself has admitted as much,” as you state, then surely you can provide a verified quote to that effect.

You then go on to state that “Other candidates were qualified, too. But she was given preference for non-merit based characteristics.” Again, this is far from self-evident. Who exactly are you referring to? What exactly are the qualifications you’re talking about? Where is the reason and logical argument that you yourself call for?

  3. Biden needs to resign the presidency as well. If he can’t handle the loyal opposition in a debate, how can he negotiate with hostile world leaders? He has instantly become the lamest of lame ducks.

Harris’ biggest liability is being part of an administration that was already unpopular before the debate fiasco. “Four more years” cannot be her slogan, but how can she campaign for change when she is such an integral part of the progressive establishment?

  4. A simpler analysis is that Harris was deeply unpopular before she was picked for the VP position, so she hid Biden’s condition from the American public while riding out his coattails through the primaries.

  5. So 14.5 million of us voted for Biden during the 2024 primary season earning him over 87% of the total votes cast (see Wikipedia), yet the donor class and the Dem elite decides to annul our vote and force him to drop out! How “democratic” of the Democrat Party!
