    1. Please remember it’s not just Boston that factors into the decision, it’s the weather in the surrounding suburbs/region where many employees live and have to commute from, and where public schools will be closed Tuesday. — The editors

  1. It would have been very helpful if BU could have at least sent a message to everyone by 8am earlier today indicating that they would notify everyone by 6pm today whether or not the university would be open or closed the next day. This would at least give folks proper time to come up with contingency plans in case the university decides by 6pm to close the next day.

    1. If you are in an online MET course with a Live Classroom scheduled for today, I recommend contacting your instructor to check if the class will be rescheduled.

  2. Agreed, I got no messages from BU alert on this, and had trouble finding out about it, and it wasn’t clear from this article what the implications were for classes, and since the weather is so mild in the Boston proper whether the cancellation was still on.

  3. Boston isn’t Atlanta. The city and our campus doesn’t need to grind to a halt for a 1-3″ snowfall. The storm was tracking south before decisions were made to suspend classes at BU and local public schools.

In any case, I hope faculty and admin. enjoy the paid day off and spare a thought for all the essential employees–Facilities Management & Operations, Dining Services, Mail Services, etc.–who don’t have the same privilege and are more likely to be commuting from a distance and scrambling to make arrangements for childcare.
