May proved a vibrant end to the academic year. There was the annual breathtaking display of magnolia and cherry trees in full bloom, a rally in support of graduate students on strike, an inaugural send-off for students (thank you, Dean of Students Office), all topped off by Boston University’s 151st Commencement. Our photographers were there to capture it all. Below are some of our favorites.
Take a look—and congratulations again, Class of 2024.

Nothing says here’s to the end of a semester quite like a ride on a mechanical bull! Thea Hecht (COM’26) takes on the challenge during the inaugural Student Activities Office Spring Send Off, held May 3 on the BU Beach.

BU community members participated in a rally held by the BU Graduate Workers Union on Marsh Plaza May 1. The union, which has been on strike since March 25, called on undergrads, faculty, staff, and grad workers to join in a walkout on International Workers Day.

Let the preparations begin. Roger Vicente was among the throngs of BU Facilities workers setting up some of the 15,000 folding chairs on Nickerson Field for Boston University’s 151st Commencement on May 19.

It takes quite a while to prepare 39,400 finger rolls. Dining Services’ Justine Kotongo got a start May 15 on some of those thousands planned for Commencement week.

Seeing red. Nickerson Field was awash in caps and gowns during the 151st Boston University Commencement, held at Nickerson Field May 19.

Legend has it that students who step on the BU seal prior to Commencement won’t graduate. After waiting for years to take their turn, Dmitriy Leskin (Questrom’24) (from left), Abhinav Garg (Questrom’24), Anais Chevalier (Questrom’24), Cam Monesmith (Questrom’24), and Nate Adams (Questrom’24), not content with just stepping on the seal on Marsh Plaza, decided to pop some champagne while they were at it.
