Why should I go?
If you are looking for a fun night out that doubles as an immersive cultural experience, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to witness the best of Bollywood at this dance show.
Bollywood dance numbers are elaborate group dance sequences that feature prominently in Hindi-language movies. Think of them as part music video, part plot device.
Boston Bollywood is the area’s first dance company that specializes in performing these numbers. It was founded in 2016 by Swati Tiwari, who is also the company’s artistic director. Tiwari is trained in several dance forms, including Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Bollywood, folk, and jazz. This weekend’s performance will see more than 100 performers doing original choreography to some of the Indian movie industry’s most beloved songs.
The dance company also provides dance lessons to adults, workshops, and dance instructions for weddings and other events.
The doors will open 45 minutes before the start of the show and there are no assigned seats, so don’t forget to leave a little early to grab the best seats. A valid government-issued ID is required for entry. Paid parking is available at the College of Arts & Sciences lot and Warren Towers garage.
