Why should I go?
Join the Boston Landmarks Orchestra as they end their 2024 season by performing a program of music celebrating Arab heritage. Conductor and musical director Christopher Wilkins will lead the orchestra as it presents Polovtsian Dances by Alexander Borodin, Mother by Gity Razaz, and Sheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
Since its establishment in 2001, the Boston Landmarks Orchestra has been showcasing musical works from female composers and composers of color to bring attention to groups who have historically been ignored in the world of music composition. The orchestra’s musical styles include jazz, spirituals, and hip-hop, alongside compositions from around the world, and the majority of its performances are held in collaboration with community partners to bring opportunities to different groups of people in Boston. The orchestra has appeared throughout the Boston area—including at iconic locations like Fenway Park, the USS Constitution pier, Boston Common, and Copley Square—but primarily performs at the Hatch Shell.
If you can’t make the concert, you can still celebrate the end of summer with the orchestra by streaming a Spotify playlist of some of the songs being performed.
