Free. Registration is not required, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Why should I go?
The Boston Public Library’s Concerts in the Courtyard series provides a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Performances are held in the central branch’s tranquil courtyard. Wednesday evening performances feature students from the Berklee College of Music, and Friday lunchtime concerts highlight local musicians. Both showcase a range of genres, from spiritual to hip-hop, from jazz to folk, from indie rock to reggae.
The theme of the series, Revolutionary Music: Music and Social Change, explores how music has spurred social change in the United States. This marks the inaugural year of the BPL’s Road to Revolution, a three-year thematic series culminating in the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
With free entry and no need to register, it’s easy to drop by and enjoy a performance. Whether you’re a music enthusiast or just looking for a pleasant way to spend some time, come and celebrate the transformative influence of music on American culture and social change.
