Why should I go?
The Boston French Film Festival is a summer staple at the MFA. Choose from a powerful lineup of 16 French films, ranging from a courtroom drama to a crime caper to a rom-com and beyond. Notable films include César Award–winning docudrama Little Girl Blue, starring Marion Cotillard; The Animal Kingdom, a sci-fi action movie about winged creatures’ struggle to coexist with humans; zany period piece The Crime Is Mine; and The Taste of Things, starring Juliette Binoche.
Other entries include Toni, a bittersweet story about a mother’s struggle to reconnect with herself; The Beast, a sci-fi thriller exploring society, the power of emotions, and the human mind; and The Nature of Love, about a romance tainted with scandal. From their strong scripts to their powerful imagery, the featured films will move and entertain viewers. Find showtimes for individual screenings here.
The MFA itself has a vast collection of masterpieces, from ancient to contemporary works, so be sure to also explore some of its exhibitions, like Hallyu! The Korean Wave (closing July 28), Dalí: Disruption and Devotion, and Dress Up. Add in a French film, and your experience will be complete.
