March 28 to 31
Ever heard the line, March comes “in like a lion, out like a lamb”? That’s not true this year: we’re in for some cold, rainy weather over the next few days. But things are looking up with a fun weekend ahead.
Have a laugh at the Boston Comedy Festival or shop for vintage clothing at the Select Markets Easter Vintage Pop-Up. If you’re really brave, try some edible insects at the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Marsh Chapel is also hosting Easter worship services as part of Holy Week.
There are exciting things ahead, Terriers.
Easter Worship at Marsh Chapel
Marsh Chapel and the BU Catholic Center mark Holy Week with several masses and services that culminate with Sunday’s Easter celebrations. On Sunday, head to the BU Beach at 7:30 am for a sunrise service or attend the 9 or 11 am interdenominational services. There is also a Roman Catholic Mass at 1 pm.
Check out the full schedule of services here.
ArtsThursday: Edible Insects and More!
In the mood for something out of the ordinary? Head to the Harvard Museum of Natural History for free admission to the new exhibition, Ants and Termites: Nature’s Super Organisms. Not only can you learn all about these tiny creatures, but you can also sample edible insects. You read that right: Little Herds, an Austin, Tex.-based nonprofit, will offer prepared insects as part of their mission to promote insects as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly food source. You can also hold a Madagascar hissing cockroach and make art rubbings.
Thursday, March 28, 5 to 9 pm, Harvard Museum of Natural History, 26 Oxford St., Cambridge. RSVP here, but walk-ins are also welcome.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Show
The circus is coming to Agganis Arena. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey has a brand-new immersive show, which incorporates new technology and human spectacle. The elephants are gone, but in their place are international artists, stunt bikes, acrobatics, a 34-foot-tall unicycle, and more.
Thursday, March 28, to Sunday, April 7, Agganis Arena, 925 Commonwealth Ave., Boston. Check showtimes and purchase tickets, starting at $15, here.
Boston Comedy Festival
Craving a laugh? Well, look no further than Boston Comedy Festival, a four-day extravaganza featuring comedians from all over the world. Check out the calendar for all the performances, but expect names like Lenny Clarke, Kevin Nealon, and D. L. Hughley. Then, on March 30, eight up-and-coming finalists from the weekend will compete for a $5,000 grand prize.
Thursday, March 28, to Saturday, March 30, various times, Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts Ave., Boston. Purchase tickets, starting at $20, here.
Sabor Latino’s Por La Cultura
BU’s Latin dance team Sabor Latino is throwing a two-day performance spectacular featuring teams from BU, as well as from Harvard, Northeastern, Suffolk, UMass, and more. The clubs will be showcasing a variety of cultures and dance styles, including mariachi, ballet folklorico, K-pop, and more. The lineup is different each day, so check their Instagram for more information about the performers.
