There is 1 comment on Transfer Students Find Community with Transition to BU Club

  1. As a transfer student from New York City, I had an easy time adjusting to city life, but I had issues making new friends in my first year at Boston University. It was hard for me to talk to new people, make friends, and explore Boston without feeling lost. Had I known about Transition to BU, I would’ve joined and might’ve had an easier time transitioning. Luckily, I had many friends who were at this school from middle school, which eased my way into this school. Also, being from New York opened a lot of doors for me to meet people I had seen before and easily befriended. I’ve always wished I had an easier time finding new friends and acclimating to BU, and I want to recommend TTBU to people in the future. This club should have a larger platform and give people the chance to make new friends. The mentorship program is a great way to have a friend there and allow students to feel better about making new friends at BU, no matter where they come from, and how hard adjusting can be for many. Reading about experiences from students like Sara and Phoebe makes me appreciate just how impactful TTBU can be. Their experiences show how essential it is to have support systems tailored specifically for transfer students. It’s more than just adjusting academically. Having someone to grab lunch with, help with registration, or check in with regularly can make a world of difference. I admire how TTBU creates efficient matches between mentors and mentees, and how that relationship often grows beyond a single semester. I truly believe that more students should know about this club, and I’ll recommend it to future transfer students who might be in the same shoes I once was.
