In her first week as Boston University’s new president, Melissa L. Gilliam dedicated time to connecting with the university’s vibrant community. Among her many stops, she visited the School of Hospitality Administration (SHA), where she engaged with SHA Dean Arun Upneja and the dedicated faculty and staff. Dean Upneja, along with the SHA team, provided valuable insights into the school’s programs and initiatives, offering President Gilliam a comprehensive understanding of their contributions to the university.

The rest of the week saw President Gilliam exploring various facets of BU, from the BU Libraries and the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center to the LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center and the Center for Computing & Data Sciences. President Gilliam’s proactive approach to getting to know the university highlights her commitment to fostering a connected and inclusive campus community. Join us in welcoming President Gilliam as she embarks on this exciting new chapter at Boston University!
