Boston University School of Hospitality Administration Launches New Graduate Program in Hospitality Real Estate
Boston, MA (September 28, 2023) — Boston University School of Hospitality Administration (BU SHA) is proud to announce the launch of a new addition to its graduate degree programs: Master of Science in Hospitality Real Estate (MSHRE). This degree program prepares students for expansive opportunities in the acquisition, development, asset management, and sale of hotels, resorts, restaurants, convention centers, membership clubs, senior living facilities, golf courses, large mixed-use developments, and more. Over this one-year program, students will develop expertise in a dynamic and critical part of the hospitality industry through coursework, connecting with leading industry professionals, and gaining work experience in the field.
Hospitality Real Estate:
As the hospitality industry continues to expand and adapt, the demand for professionals skilled in navigating the complexities of hospitality real estate is greater than ever. BU School of Hospitality’s Master of Science in Hospitality Real Estate program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in various roles within the industry, from real estate development to investment banking and consulting, as well as contemporary issues facing real estate stakeholders such as evolving urban landscapes, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), community connection, and working with municipalities and local governance.
“The addition of the MS in Hospitality Real Estate to our graduate degree options exemplifies our school’s mission to prepare our students to drive hospitality innovation,” said Arun Upneja, Ph.D., Dean of BU School of Hospitality Administration. “Real Estate is central to building and shaping hospitality experiences that encompass how we live, work, play, and flourish. These experiences, including the role of hospitality real estate assets in a community, are critical for a sustainable and purposeful society.”
The BU SHA Real Estate program is led by Kaushik Vardharajan, Associate Professor of the Practice and Director of the SHA Real Estate Program, who spent nearly two decades as a global real estate executive advising private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, investment banks, hotel brands, and hotel ownership groups in over 60 countries. His career includes a 15-year stint with hospitality consulting giant HVS, working in New York, and leading offices in Singapore, New Delhi, and Moscow. He also served for four years as Vice President of Development for Hilton in South Asia.
