MMH ’21; Finance MIT, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

After completing my undergraduate degree at Boston University’s School of Hospitality amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I (like many others) had fears about the state of the hospitality industry. Nevertheless, I doubled down and pursued an advanced degree to expand my knowledge and leadership skills in the hope that one day I could help re-shape the future of an industry challenged by the pandemic.

In the Master’s program, I concentrated in Real Estate Development and Finance, learning both inside and outside the classroom. My internship and graduate-level classes challenged me to explore different parts of the industry. BU’s MMH program truly opened my eyes to the diversity of employment opportunities in the industry. My SHA experience has given me a plethora of knowledge, critical thinking skills, and dedication for success.

The best advice I can offer to prospective SHA students is to network vigorously and persistently with professionals in the hospitality industry. Stay open and engaged. Reach out to someone who has your dream job and ask them about their career path. You will be surprised by how enthusiastic they will be to share their own experiences and provide valuable real-world advice to help you reach your goals.
