A charismatic Boston native and Harvard graduate, Ed Kane is the visionary leader behind first-of-its-kind entertainment, hospitality, creative, marketing, music, and media company, Big Night.
For over 30 years, Kane has been pushing the envelope in the restaurant and nightlife scene, introducing an ever-expanding portfolio of award-winning venues and one-of-a-kind concepts across New England. Kane’s eye for design has garnered countless industry awards and has made Big Night synonymous with style. An influential Boston businessman in his own right, his leadership and expertise has earned him a spot in the Massachusetts Hospitality Hall of Fame and most recently in Boston Magazine’s “100 Most Influential Bostonians” for 2022.
Kane began his illustrious restaurant career in 1989 when he and his brother, Joe, transformed a ’50s-style diner into what is now the popular Hingham Harbor restaurant, Stars. The Kane brothers then converted an old granary in Hingham into Tosca, quickly establishing the restaurant as an iconic South Shore dining destination. Shortly after, the team opened nearby Caffé Tosca followed by the launch of FireKing Baking Company.
With a desire to expand, the Kanes teamed up with Co-Owner Randy Greenstein in 2006 to launch Big Night. Since then, the group has developed and debuted 19 innovative restaurant and nightlife destinations that transcend the status quo including: Big Night Live featuring Studio B and Guy Fieri’s Tequila Cocina, Mystique and Mémoire at Encore Boston Harbor, The Grand, Empire, Guy Fieri’s Boston Kitchen + Bar, Red Lantern, Scorpion Bar, and Versus in Boston; CBS Sporting Club, the Card Vault and Scorpion Bar at Foxboro’s Patriot Place; Shrine, Red Lantern, High Rollers, Scorpion Bar, and Guy Fieri’s Foxwoods Kitchen + Bar at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
Consistently ranked as one of the Boston Globe’s “Best Places to Work,” Kane’s team have always been at the forefront of the business where he stresses “people before profit.” In 2020, he worked closely with others in the group to develop a charitable arm called Big Night Big Heart. Since its launch, Big Night has partnered with the American Red Cross and several other local organizations to raise funds in support of their missions. He and the Big Night team also launched a 501c3 initiative through Big Night Big Heart called B Strong to assist members community who were most in need through the pandemic and beyond.
Under the leadership of Kane, Greenstein, and his brother Joe, Big Night shows no signs of slowing down with a dynamic range of newly developed business ventures including Big Night Breaks, Big Night Fitness, Big Night Talent, Big Night Media. Big Night Creative, Big Night Radio, and Big Night Gaming.
