Joe Tarasco

Director of Operations for Daily Provisions, Union Square Hospitality Group

Joe Tarasco has been a dedicated leader at Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) for over 18 years, bringing his expertise in operations and deep culinary passion to some of New York’s most celebrated restaurants. His hospitality career began in 2000 as a server at a local Italian restaurant, sparking his early interest in food and service. In 2003, he enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and externed at the renowned Le Bec-Fin in Philadelphia, where he honed his technical skills and developed a passion for fine dining.

After graduating from the CIA in 2005, Joe joined Gramercy Tavern as a line cook, refining his craft for over two years. In 2009, he was part of the opening team at Maialino, serving as Executive Sous Chef for five years. It was during this time that he developed a deep appreciation for Roman cuisine and culture, helping shape the restaurant’s identity through his immersion in its flavors and traditions.

Building on this expertise, Joe became Chef de Cuisine at Marta in 2014 and was promoted to Executive Chef in 2015, leading the launch of USHG’s Roman-style pizzeria. He also played a key role in developing Vini e Fritti, a Roman-inspired wine bar, and Caffè Marchio, a traditional Italian coffee bar.

In 2018, Joe was promoted to Director of Operations for USHG, overseeing multiple high-profile restaurants, including Marta, Vini e Fritti, Caffè Marchio, Maialino, Blue Smoke, Union Square Café, and Ci Siamo. Throughout his tenure, he remained committed to fostering a culture of hospitality, culinary excellence, and team development.

In October 2023, Joe assumed the role of Director of Operations for Daily Provisions, where he continues to bring his leadership, experience, and passion to delivering outstanding guest experiences. With nearly two decades at USHG, Joe remains dedicated to innovation and excellence in the hospitality industry.
