Deferral of Admission

Admitted students may defer their admission for up to one full year from their term of admission. To defer, admitted students must complete an Enrollment Status Change Request before the first day of the term of admission.

International students who defer will be required to submit updated international student documentation (including financial support). Students will be notified by BU Metropolitan College when this documentation becomes necessary.

Dropping a Course

To drop a course or courses, visit the MyBU Student Portal. If you are unable to drop your course on the MyBU Student Portal, you must submit the Add/Drop Form.

Students dropping to zero courses in a semester must complete an Enrollment Status Change Request to be dropped from their course(s).

Upon receipt of the appropriate form, your account will be adjusted according to the University’s refund policy. Please be aware that the add/drop deadlines as noted on MET’s academic calendars may differ from the refund dates.

Withdrawing From All Courses

To withdraw from all of your courses, you must complete the Enrollment Status Change Request.

Upon receipt of this form, your account will be adjusted according to the University’s refund policy. Withdrawal deadlines can be found on the academic calendars. Please be aware that add/drop and withdrawal deadlines may be different than the refund dates.

Financial Aid Recipients

The policies above are academic and related only to tuition refunds. Separate regulations govern federal student loans and may require BU to reduce or cancel a previously disbursed loan when your enrollment changes.
