The Bryan D. Willard Scholarship

In 2006, Boston University’s Metropolitan College established the Bryan D. Willard Memorial Scholarship in memory of Marine Captain Bryan Willard, a highly decorated officer and graduate student at Metropolitan College who was killed in the line of duty.

Scholarship funds are for exclusive use toward tuition costs for undergraduate or graduate courses at Metropolitan College and must be used during the fall and spring semesters immediately following the award.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Bryan D. Willard Memorial Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a member or veteran of the armed forces who has been awarded a Purple Heart for a wound received while in combat. Spouses and children of veterans killed in the line of duty are also eligible and encouraged to apply.
  • Be accepted into an academic degree program at Metropolitan College. Scholarship applicants who are not currently enrolled in a Metropolitan College program may apply for the scholarship and an academic program concurrently. However, each application will be considered independently. For example, it is possible that an applicant may be accepted into a degree program without a scholarship award. Learn more about academic programs available through Metropolitan College.

Students may receive the Bryan D. Willard Memorial Scholarship multiple times; however, recipients must reapply for the scholarship each year.

If you are interested in making a tax-deductible contribution to this fund, please make checks payable to Boston University and write Willard in the memo. Checks can be mailed to:
