Criminal Justice Master’s Alum Named Chief of Pittsfield Police Department

Thomas C. Dawley II (MET’05), who graduated with from Metropolitan College with a criminal justice master’s, has been named permanent chief of the Pittsfield, Massachusetts Police Department, nearly a year after stepping into the role on an interim basis.

A veteran of the department for more than twenty years, Dawley will oversee more than ninety people. He told The Berkshire Eagle that he hopes to bring about a new dynamic between the police and the Pittsfield community, one that pivots from “community policing” to “community engagement.”

Leadership qualities like these are precisely what MS in Criminal Justice students cultivate at Metropolitan College.
