José López Ganem When José López Ganem (MET’22) earned his Master of Art in Gastronomy at BU’s Metropolitan College, he learned key lessons on how to unlock the stories food have to tell us about the world. Now, he is pivoting from student to teacher with his online course, LatinX Experiences of Farming, Cooking and Eating in the United States (MET ML 610), which will be offered in the coming fall semester.

The course, López Ganem says, examines the “fundamental force” that “Latin American or Spanish-speaking people” bring to the food culture of the United States.

“I was very interested in creating something with the stories of the people that I was hearing about in Latin America and in my own country here,” he told BU Today.
