How Will Climate Change Affect Hospital Care? New Funding to Explore.

This spring, a pair of Metropolitan College students will contribute to a major project as part of the BU Campus Climate Lab research effort, thanks to newly approved funding.

The project is entitled, “Boston Medical Center: Climate Change Impacts & Mitigation Strategies,” and its aim is to examine the risks global warming poses to medical facilities, quantify their anticipated impacts on patient demand and service supply activities at the BMC, and to then generate a set of ideas, strategies, and solutions to mitigate and alleviate these pressures and burdens.

The MET students, Jiaoxue Liu and Yujue Tan, will be supervised by Professors John Maleyeff and David Weidman. Funding for the research endeavor will be provided by the Campus Climate Lab, part of BU’s Institute for Global Sustainability.
