Dr. Christopher Athaide’s research focuses on probabilistic modeling of systems, risk modeling in commodities and finance, optimal decision-making for real-world problems, machine learning, high dimensional probability, Clifford algebras, and abstract algebra. Dr. Athaide served as vice president in the Global Markets division of J. P. Morgan for five years, specializing in risk management as well as analytics. Since then, he has accumulated more than twenty-five years of professional experience in the commodities field, starting as director of asset management and storage for Shell Energy North America and going on to co-found Cygnet Risk Group in 2000. At Cygnet, Athaide developed commercial software that is used in the natural gas industry. He also serves as a consultant and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
