An accomplished expert in artificial intelligence, machine learning, networking, and analytics, Dr. Alizadeh-Shabdiz joins Metropolitan College from Waylens, Inc., where, as chief data officer and chief scientist, he focused on machine learning and analytics, as well as B2B business development in the area of intelligent video security for fleets. Prior to that, Dr. Alizadeh-Shabdiz was chief scientist at ClimaCell, where he was responsible for analyzing crowd-sourced environmental data to develop high-accuracy weather prediction services for business decision-making. He was also chief scientist at Skyhook Wireless, Inc. (now Liberty Media), where he oversaw R&D, machine learning, and analytics related to the company’s positioning systems and their integration with GPS. A pioneer in global WiFi/beacon positioning systems and location intelligence, Dr. Alizadeh-Shabdiz has been granted 57 USA patents, licensed by companies such as Apple and Google, and has published extensively. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering, and his PhD in communications and networking. He also holds an MBA from MIT. He is a two-time recipient of the MIT Sloan Leadership Fellowship Award and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member at Metropolitan College, Dr. Alizadeh-Shabdiz was adjunct faculty from 2004 to 2014.
