Impressions of Today’s South Africa: Problems & Prospects

Christine Loken-Kim, program administrator; and Monét Cooper, a graduate student, in the African American Studies Program, offer firsthand accounts of their South Africa experiences. Loken-Kim spent two weeks in a Pretoria township where she witnessed the affects of post-apartheid political and economic structures on both blacks and whites in South Africa. Cooper spent three weeks in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town writing about ethical leadership and the socio-economic implications of South Africa’s HIV/AIDS epidemic for Morehouse College, a historically black college for African American men.
