My thoughts go to all the families, parents and children. Hopes for a better world.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to express my deepest sorrows over the horrible events that happened this week and to say to the members of my BU family who suffered and died as a result, God bless you and take you to a place of eternal peace and happiness.

Let me be one but one of many who offers his prayers and deepest sympathies to the families of Mark, Lisa, Tom, and Brian. Like many, I can scarcely comprehend the images that have flashed before my eyes over the past several days. However, while our hearts are heavy, our resolve is strong. The perpetrators of this crime against humanity and the American people failed to understand that ours is a Nation in which the principle of individual freedom is exceeded only by our commitment to protect that freedom. As I sit here on Capitol Hill I can tell you that we will find who is responsible, we will hold them accountable, and we will persevere. Meanwhile, we must know that the memory of our fellow alumni and classmates will live on with the memory of this tragedy. To the families -- a nation shares in your unspeakable loss.

If I've learned anything from this horrific event, it's to live for today and to tell everyone you love that you love them every chance you get because you never know when that opportunity will be stripped from you.

In the uncertainty and confusion of the moment, while our flags fly at half-mast, remember the eloquent words of Francis Scott Key that fateful night in September, 1814, during the Battle for Baltimore, when he glimpsed the American Flag flying high over Fort McHenry -- that our star-spangled banner "still waves o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave." To all of you who feel the sharp pain and the righteous fury in your hearts, to those whose eyes tear with bitter frustration at a descipicable act by a faceless enemy - We are Americans, and Justice will be done.

We'll remember this terror ever.All the countryheros and innocent people will stay in our heart forever.But war is not the answer.The only way out is get the one who did this bad things to punish.No more innocent people to die for.

I was so young to learn that we are temporarily in this world and that life is so precious. Life is just a coincidence and often we are supposed to be lucky and doesn't matter where we live geographically . What matters is to live and appreciate it. In USA everyone has the chance to go for. Personally I invite everyone in the prayer for those who lost their life, for the families that won't have their lovers close to them, for the community that will miss their friends and will have to tell a lot to the new generation in the future, for thousands of broken hearts that won't be the same anymore. The prayer will last long until we are going to be used sharing and living with these memories, until the conscience of this great country will find peace. BU Staff 15 September, 2001

Looking at the gallery of BU students suffering through this tragedy, I am reminded of those of us a BU generation earlier (CAS'70/GSM '72) who sat in front of our TV sets and radios and suffered through the losses of Martin Luther King (BU '55) and Robert Kennedy...in the same dorms, on the same campus. We overcame then...and we'll overcome now. There ARE better days ahead for peace, freedom and for each of us with humanity in his/her soul. It also strikes me that when national crises occur, BU students and grads absorb a disproportionate share of the suffering, probably because we tend to be involved and in positions "where the action is" in life, perhaps that is what BU prepares us for...to take charge, lead and be where mankind needs us most. That's what makes a BU family member so special and not just another "College Joe". Believe me when I say, "Better Days Are Ahead!"

Lisa, It was only a couple months ago that I last saw you. you were wearing your trademark smile that everyone seems to remember you by. I have known you since our days at St. John's in 8th grade when i held a school boy's crush on you. Then graduated together at Trabuco Hills HS. Although we never really got to know eachother outside of school i knew that if i did you would have affected my life and the way i chose to live it. you will be missed more than you could ever imagined by everyone you have known. To Lisa's parents Tom and Melanie and her brother Daniel and best friend Jan, i wanted to make it by the house Thursday when Lisa's friends all stopped by but was unable. my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during this time of loss. if there is anything i can do don't hesitate to ask. i will see you saturday for Lisa's services. I can not help but share my feelings of loss, bewilderment, and general emptiness after this catastrophe. I remember my time at B.U. from '85 to '89, the specter of South African apartheid, the destruction of the Challenger, the bombing of Libya, air terror over Lockerbie, and the Soviet atrocities in Afghanistan. I had always hoped to see the world evolve and move away from that decade's demons of intolerance, bloodshed, and war. Sadly, I fear terror is escalating in frequency and ferocity. It sickens me. We must stand firm and united. We are Americans. With the world's help, or standing totally alone, we will survive and overcome.

I would like to thank the University for providing information about the tragedy and about those members of our BU community whose lives were taken from us. I hope that a permanent memorial will eventually be erected along the Charles River campus to honor their memory.

My thoughts go out to anyone who has been affected by this horrific tragedy. One positive thing has ironically come out of the past events: The USA has really pulled together. People of all differences have come together donating, praying and supporting each other in this extremely painful time. The greatness and meaning of being an American will never be able to be terrorized or attacked. May God continue to bless us.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my condolences to the families of Tom, Mark, Lisa, and Brian, and to all the families of all the victims and survivors. This event has instilled in me a new sense of connection to my fellow human beings, in particular those with whom I share commonalities. In particular I connect with Mark and Lisa, as I am a resident of LA, a Kings fan, and a So Cal native whose parents, I'm sure, worried their own hearts out every time I boarded an American Airlines flight to come home from Boston. I hope that all of us can learn to find connections in others, and in the human spirit, in our everyday lives from now on. With these connections, we become a family, and as a family we can keep the world a peaceful, loving place.

On September 11, 2001 faceless enemies of the United States took the lives of our loved ones and fellow Americans. We morn this tragic loss and pray that it will never happen again. We sing our national songs and now post the American flag in our windows, a sense of pride which only recently emerged in light of this tragidy. But who is really willing to take up arms and fight this enemy? Who is willing to give their lives in defense of this nation? Who is willing to set asside their own individual goals for the good of our great nation? I would honestly like to know how many would truthfully committ themselves to those challenges.....

I am in france but i love town of Boston and i was ther at the begin of the year. I study at the university of law. My thoughts go the Families of the victims. It is horrible to see these but GOD is with us. GOD BLESS AMERICA

I pray for all the families who have lost a loved one or friend in the horrid events on Tuesday. The shock and sadness hasn't left me and I beleieve will stay with me forever. My heart and prayers also go out to all the rescue workers working endless hours for life. And to those who lost their own to help another. In memory of New Jersey Port Authority Officer Marone.

Let us not despair. Let us not lash out in anger. Let us not turn against our neighbors because they are of the same religious or ethnic background as those who brought us harm. Let us be reasoned in our response. And let us try to see -- truly see, and understand -- the kernel of very real pain, suffering, and despair that is at the core of this extreme act.

Words cannot express the loss and tragedy the victims of Tuesday's attack experienced as their lives were so brutally taken away. Such suffering is irredeemable. It goes to show the wasteful nature of hatred and ignorance, destroying so much that could have been so much. May God rid of us of such evil! And God bless all the families and loved ones of the victims who have nothing to cling on to but memories!

God bless the tireless firefighters, police officers and volunteers....my heart goes out to those who have perished in this tragedy...may God give us the strength and patience to move on.

My close friend Paul Ambrose was killed in the plane that terrorists crashed into the Pentagon. Everyone who knew him loved Paul. All I can say is that I am ready to put my life in harm's way to prevent it from ever happening again, and I hope all of us in America feel the same.

Two mighty towers may have fallen and thousands of people may have died, but the foundation of our country remains strong. The United States of America is the greatest country in the world because of the individuals and families that comprise it. The actions of these terrorists should not drive us to become terrorists ourselves. We should not judge, persecute, or intimidate those who may be followers of Islam or Arab Americans. To do so is wrong and serves no purpose in terms of retribution for the events which took place on September 11, 2001. Let civility and justice lead the way. May all the victims rest in peace, and may God watch over us all.

This is a trying time for all of us. And I know how it is to have lost someone (a week before what happened in New York, my grandmother (from natural causes and best friend (brain cancer ,age 19)died . I am currently in Istanbul, Turkey, but I spent some most beautiful moments of my life in NYC and Boston. I want to say that I was really horrified by the Tuesday, Sep.11th attacks. I convey my condolences to the American people and to those who have lost a loved one. This horrible attack was made not only to the American people but also to those who have stuggled for a better world. I hope this horrible event will motivate us to work harder and faster towards establishing worldpeace. Peace Bulent...

The terrorists who did this despicable act are enemies of any religion. Islam forbids suicide and murder. What we saw was an act of evil. Let us all stand together to work for good, rather than evil.

Yesterday I was probably one of the last people to hear about the events that took place in New York and Washington DC since I was in class, even though I was in one of the places that is closely involved in the whole incident. When I got home and found out, I was glued to the TV, watching and waiting for information for many other people throughout this nation. I was affected by the incident itself and just by thinking of a million "what ifs" since when I heard about the flights it hit a bit close that they were on the same route (Boston to LA) that I occasionally take. Additionally, It was my feeling that the only person I would know that was even remotely close to the incident was John Johnson, and once I found out he was ok, my heart went out to those who have lost someone. But at the same time, I felt grateful that I was still alive and that I didn't have to experience that type of loss. However, everyone is greatly affected. When a student at my high school died a couple of years ago, my teacher, Mrs. Hillinger, explained the idea of "6 degrees of separation" - the idea that everyone in the world in connected by no more than 6 degrees, or people. I think now more than ever that is evident. Everywhere one looks, they see someone that has been greatly affected by a loss due to the incident. Today that became even more evident to me when I found out that someone I knew who went to BU School of Hospitality and Trabuco Hills High School with me was on the United Flight that crashed into the World Trade Center. This tie that each person has to everyone makes this incident all that more real. Its not just something on tv in what appears like a movie or something that is happening to a foreign country most of us will probably never visit; its happening to us. I just wanted to let you all know that I cherish each and every relationship I have, and have had in my life. I want to thank you for blessing my life by, at one point or another, being in it. I also want to express my sympathy for anyone else who has loss someone who was in their life. The only thing that I can think about and that I am trying to incorporate in my own life, is what my parents said to me last night, that is to just make sure each day counts, and has been worthwhile. I know that Lisa, who died in the crash, did that each and every day, and knowing that makes it a little easier to handle the reality of what has happened. It is a lesson to us all to do just that. I also wanted to say that I believe it is important to us help as much as we can, no matter how close or far we may be from the crash sites. My suggestion (just as you may have heard on the news) is to donate blood and or money. The American Red Cross Site (www.redcross.org) has been updating their site frequently with news and their involvement and they have set up a Disaster Relief Fund. For those of you in the New England area: a couple banks are saying that they will match any donation that you make. I don't know what to do to help... to help anyone and everyone, but this is all I can think of to do. Finally, I want to say thank you to the people who have called and IMed me to check to see how I am doing and making sure I am safe. I am safe, classes are continuing for those who feel they can go, and things are moving along here. We are a few miles removed from the Hotel, and other than emotionally, have not been affected by the investigation in Boston. Thank you for all, and you are all in my heart. I am a native New Yorker and I have lost dozens of friends in the WTC. I never thought about my BU family that might be part of this tragedy . It is apparent that this tragedy has touched all of us in ways that we don't yet. My heart goes out to the families of these individuals.

I am so proud of my alma mater for creating such a wonderful medium in which to communicate with the other members of the BU and US communities which were affected by the terrible events on Tuesday. I was in Chicago on business when I got a call from my Mom telling me to turn on CNN. What I saw on the screen defied description, but it is something that will be able to be overcome. I am amazed by the outpouring of American spirit and pride that this event has evoked. From people holding doors open for each other to signs along highways, to BU alumni in NY offering shelter to those who need it, I could not be more proud of my country or of my school. My deepest sympathies are with those who lost loved ones on Tuesday. May you rest assured in the knowledge that they loved you, and that you will meet them again in a better place.

The power of hate reached out and struck us all on September 11, spreading its venom in all directions. It is so tempting to want to respond in kind, to strike out, especially at people in our path who appear different or who might share some similarity (like religion or nationality) with the attackers. Let us not respond with hate, but prove that the power of love and acceptance of difference is stronger than hate will ever be. Let us treat one another as individuals and not as symbols of things that we fear. When we reach out to our neighbors in kindness, we truly combat terrorism. Otherwise, we become what we hate!

I'm here in Seattle in breathless shock. I ache but I can't cry because the grief runs too deep. Like many others, I try to imagine what those last few moments must have been like for those passengers. I try to imagine the terror and I just can't. My heart goes out to everyone who died, and to everyone who loves them. I pray for this country. I pray for our future. I pray that we will have the wisdom to find the appropriate response, beyond retaliation and retribution. I pray that we will find a new level of justice, tempered with compassion. I was born at the end of Vietnam, so have never experienced this kind of national tragedy. I've been walking through life blissfully ignorant. I always thought these kinds of stories were safely contained in history books and the memories of our elders.

I would like to share my feelings of anger, sorrow and grief for what happened to our dear ones on 11th September,2001. Please make sure that this is not Islam 'cause the core of Islam is peace and love. I have long suffered at my homecountry, Egypt from the works of mad terrorists. They misuse Jihad (fighting enemies) to fight even their fellow country-men. Terrorism is a faceless, religionless and countryless act. May God bless the soul of those innocent people who paid their lives paying for an act they never committed. May God extend his mercy over those innocent people who are going to pay their lives as a price of a guilt they never did.

There are no words that can express the horror,shock, pain, loss. My heart goes out to all those who have lost someone of suffered in this terrible, barbaric, horrendous tragedy. We are all affected. The solidarity of Americans has been remarkable. We have come together to give our help, our support, to share our hearts, our tears, our love. We stand united and we must remain strong; we must have faith.We have been called the "sleeping giant." Well, wake up America......we are the most powerful nation in the world..let's prove it.

Lisa, You lived across the hall from me at Student Village. You were exceptional beyond words--your intelligence, sophistication, devotion to your friends, to school, your good nature, and so much more. I have lost a friend and a neighbor.

I raise my prayer to God for all the families and friends of all the inocent people who died in this tragedy. Also for all the BU community that wants to live in peace.

This act of terrorism has attempted to overide our daily lives. The many victims are tragic, and I pray that the families and friends will go forward with the knowledge that those who are deceased would look down on them and say to move on with thier lives instead of mourning forever. The sadness will never fully pass, but the spirit of those now gone will always be with you. I wish you the best in your time of grief.

As we all share in the horrifying shock and sadness of September 11th, take comfort in some of the encouraging and uplifting verses from the hymn "O God Our Help in Ages Past" - the words, written in 1719 by Isaac Watts ring ever so true today:

No words can express the sadness and horror that we are all feeling. As a community, we need to honor those that we have lost in this tragic event.

I'm scared. It's ironic that suddently I feel I'd be safer back home, in Israel.

I am a grad of COM, and I would like to send all my prayers and blessings to everyone, in this time of uncertainty. I used to work at William M. Mercer - 2 WTC on the 54th floor and for the grace of God; I was not there that day. Everyday we must thank God and count our blessings for life. God bless everyone from BU. My prayers and thoughts go for everyone who is feeling angry at this time, please know that revenge is NOT justice and that if we don't restrain ourselves and act like the human beings we are our world could be in danger. Even as the days go by the reality of this horrible event is almost too much to grasp. I am thankful that my friends and family are all okay, but I cannot find comfort in that fact because for so many others their friends and family were taken from them by this terrible tragedy. I am from New Jersey and have spent my summers living in New York, so I have heard many "close call" stories from the people I care about. I know they could have easily been taken as well. In times like this it's hard to find comfort in anything at all, but I received an e-mail today that made me feel a little better. So many friends and family of mine came so close. I feel so lucky. I never thought that I would have to be this lucky. I hope that everyone gets a new sense of appreciation for all that we have to be greatful for. I'd also like to express my deepest regrets to all the families and friends who lost loved ones in this tragedy. I am so so sorry.

Never have I seen people moving together as closely as in the past week. It is an unique sight to see people in Germany and all of Europe wearing American flags and holding each other`s hand while remembering the victims. Maybe this was the signal for us to move closer together and to really become a global cummunity. It is sad that it took such a tragic event and so many innocent lives to bring us together. Remember America: you are not alone. This was not only an attack on America, but on the entire Western World. We should all stand together and fight the evil.

This past Saturday, September 15, I noticed a comment on the message board outside of Marsh Chapel. This individual wrote, in effect, that he mourned for the death of the terrorists because they were humans too. Unfortunately, someone had felt compelled to strike through what he wrote with a marker of a different color. Nevertheless, it could still be read. As I stood there, I watched other students come up and view the various thoughts written on the board. At one point, two young female students walked up. One pointed out to the other the comment that I just described. The second girl prompty proceeded to scribble out the comment to the point of illegibility. I just stared at her. Why is it that one person's hate is somehow more justified than someone else's? And why is it that the freedoms we fight and stand for only count when someone is saying something we agree with or find acceptable?

Although I have not lost any one personally in this great tragedy, I can tell you that there is nowhere in the western world that hasn't been touched by the evil that was committed on 11/09/01. God bless all of those who have suffered at the hands of this unspeakable violence and hatred. In Britain, we too feel the terror and the pain, as many of our citizens have also been lost. Let us now address ourslves to the task of weeding out this evil,and avenging those who have died. Rest assured, as our Prime Minister said, "we stand shoulder to shoulder" with you all at this terrible time.

It took me really long to get in touch with reality from the time i heard of this tragedy. I am sure a lot of us feel the same, especially people who have lost their loved ones to this act of insanity. I continue to pray and hope for better days ahead for each one of us. I do not have enough words to comfort those in pain, but i can only say that in time we will all heal from the deep wounds inflicted by this catastrophe.

My heart aches for the families and friends of the many victims of last week's tragedy. May God bless them and bless us all in the days to come. I pray for peace and the protection of all innocent lives throughout the world.

I am touched by the photos from BU...living in New York, it means so much to see the emotion and support put forth in other cities, and specifically from BU.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies and condolences to the people who lost their lives and to the families who lost their loved one. I studied at the School of Education of BU in 1999 as a visiting researcher from Japan. The memories at BU are still in my heart.

To my fellow BU Alum and current collegiates...I am so thankful that someone designed this web site so we can speak out against these terrible acts of terrorism, and remember those we have have lost. These attacks affect so many of us. My husband grew up with a flight attendant who was on a hijacked plane, and I have a close family friend in the special forces who has told us he will be "going away", and can't tell us anything more. Just to reassure people of the world's solidarity, my husband and I were travelling through Europe, specifically Switzerland, Germany, Holland, and England during and after the attack on the WTC and Pentagon. At every place of worship we passed in each country, there were American flags draped, candles lit, personal notes and posters written in German, Swiss, French, Dutch, and English -- and they all delivered a message of solidarity and peace for the US and the world. In Switzerland, a young man of about 22 stopped us on the street, and said "Are you American? Do you realize the WTC has been attacked? I am really sorry, and we're with you." We asked 2 German schoolgirls to translate a poster at the Cologne Cathedral in Cologne, Germany, and it read, "Religion is just a thing, We are all humans, Love will conquer hate." Those who care about humanity in the world are with us, and we greatly outnumber those who threaten our way of life. So, don't be afraid, stand tall...because we are not alone.

May this horrific incident remind us all to NEVER ever take our police departments, fire departments, and emergency service departments for granted. If you see a police car, a fire engine, or an ambulance headed in your direction, get out of the way. If you live in a neighborhood that has volunteer firefighters or EMT's...become one of those volunteers. Never take these men and women for granted...because they don't care what you look like, where you come from, or where you're going. They'll still be there, in times of crisis, helping you...maybe even saving your life. And they don't ever ask for anything in return. They are just men and women who do their jobs and want to get home to their families. So the next time you're walking down Bolyston Street...and you pass the BFD across from the Convention Center...just say thank you.

In light of the recent events of terrorism in our country, I have been reminded of the important things in life. That life indeed is tenous and precious, and that the people that bring us any type of joy and happiness may, at any time be taken from us. Try to tell everyone you know that you love them, care for them and appreciate them greatly. To the families and friends who have lost loved ones; our hearts, thoughts, prayers and tears are with you.

The events of last Tuesday will forever be with all of us. This has been a difficult time for me...being from New York and having this hit so close to home. Even here in Boston it doesn't seem as detached as some of us might wish it was. I have faith that we can all come out of this as strong Americans in an even stronger nation that won't let terrorism reign. I hope we can all ban together to help as much as we can in the effort to restore New York, Washington and the world--and to send the message to these terrorists that we will not stand for these cowardly acts. When things like this happen… I think a lot… perhaps too much. One thought that just entered my head is that what if this terrorism is plagiarized? Novels - of the likes of Tom Clancy, who wrote about hijackers crashing a plane into the Capitol Movies - of the likes of Die Hard or whatever. All those Hollywood movies that you complain are not realistic...well, it seems as though inconceivable tragedies such as this bestow the reality-status on them. Never again will I mock those seemingly improbable story-lines...in fact, I now suddenly find myself fearing them. Though those e-mails we’ve all been receiving are hoaxes… there are predictions of disaster in Nostradamus’ writings. Every organized religion follows its own time-honoured calendar, but it now appears as if organized terrorism has adopted a calendar of its own. I think Nostradamus' prophecies are self-sustaining creations. How better to gain credibility than by predicting the very future that it creates?? It's taken a tragedy of this magnitude to wake the developed world to the reality of terrorism and the fragility of their ostensibly impenetrable systems. What's scary is that the US has a history of being the most ruthless (can you blame it?) when it's been taken by surprise. We all know about Pearl Harbour and it's repercussions... Only difference now it that there's no discernible enemy "yet", but when there is, that's when the real burning will begin. And the sad but inevitable truth is that innocent people will die... because of the viciousness of a few... I just don't know... When things like this happen… I think a lot… perhaps too much. We all have things happen to us on a daily basis we term problems, issues… whatever. Suddenly those ‘problems’ have become trivial, dwarfed by this gigantic attack on the freedom of our world. We all have someone we know over in New York or Washington. The place they call home, where they all thought they were safe from all danger, isn't so safe anymore is it? I think for a moment 'what if this happened to my home?' It makes me cringe... me... sitting here miles and miles away from the cities concerned. What about them? I’m not religious… I have my reasons. But I do pray and I do hope that the families, friends and citizens of the world, including you and I, never have to witness or endure such terror in our lives ever again. What made me put all this down... i don't know. Perhaps i just needed to get it out of my head.... The clouds roll by... we go about our business... the world keeps turning... we’re still here... But community extends far beyond that. It transcends state lines and the physical distance that separates the East and West Coasts. Community connects us to one another and is most important in times like these. Today we turn to those in our community for support, for comfort, in remembrance, and for hope. Our community is made up of many faces. Students at Boston University come from all 50 states and 125 countries. Faculty and staff join us from every corner of the world. Our 250,000 alumni are diverse and far-reaching. Yet we are similar and close-knit. We share many things in common and today we share in remembering those in our community whom we have lost and those who are missing. On behalf of the Alumni Relations team and the thousands of others from our community who wish they could be in Los Angeles with you this evening, we send our sympathy and condolences to the families and friends of those whom we have lost. As a person who was in Manhattan during the Terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, I can tell you that it was an extremely terrifying experience. Unfortunately, the BU community was touched by this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who lost someone special on September 11, and to all of us who lost something else that day. We will always remember....

I noticed just how many people from Mass. were on the two flights out of Boston, and I realized what a sad day it was for the state. I lived in Mass. and New England for 2 1/2 years between 1996 and 2000, and love the region very much. Mass. has always given more than its share in all the U.S. does and accomplishes, and bears the weight of Sep. 11, 2001 perhaps more than any other state but New York.

My heart and prayers go out to all of those involved in anyway with the tragedy that occurred on 9/11/2001. My heart is broken for all affected...which is all Americans. I applaud our government and President Bush and his advisors for the wonderful job they are doing!God Bless America!!!!******

There is no doubt in my mind that this horrific event is one that will have a dramatic effect on our history as the human race. It is our nation's decision on the direction in which this change will head. By retaliating, we will only have an immediate impact on the world, until individuals like those responsible find alternative methods for bringing about evil. In the process of retaliation, our civilization will have found evil and vengeance, thus lifting the bar for future conflicts and showing those who don't know our nation that we are what the terrorists claim us to be. It is at this grave time that we can truly show our greatness and moral progress as a world civilization by not displaying vengeance and setting an example. The examplle that we set will have reprucussions for centuries to come. The deaths of those in New York and Washington must have a more profound meaning than our country's military strength, as they themselves would not have it this way. Their deaths must represent something more, something that will make my infant proud to be an American when he can appreciate what this nation is supposed to stand for. I am not proud of what this nation is, I am proud of what this nation is trying to be. We are almost there.

Within a day or two of the tragedy, I saw an interview on local television here in Southern California with Lisa's father. He was standing in front of his home as he discussed his family's loss. It was only a minute or so interview, but Mr. Frost went out of his way to say how he was concerned for the loss of all the other victims' famalies. It was at this point I started to weep for the first time since September 11th. It became apparent to me what an incredible family and parents that Lisa had; the solid core of goodness and compassion for her fellow human beings that she surely had been raised with. Then I came to this site today and have read all of the thoughts that have been shared and I have gotten a glimpse into the special angel named Lisa who graced this planet with her beaming, caring life. I have been crying for the second time now because of the unimaginable loss her parents and the world have suffered. However, I just wanted Lisa's parents to know that people of their quality and lovingness give me hope for humanity and will touch my heart for ever. My son is a third year Communications student at B.U.; I am deeply touched and proud that he is even remotely connected to Lisa by that thinnest string. God bless your family....and may the goodness that you and your family eminate touch all on this planet.

Like many others, I went into shock when I read Lisa's name flash across the television screen...The way that I met and kept in touch with Lisa speaks to the great personality she possessed...We met on the street during the beginning of my Junior year, her Sophomore, and after talking with her I knew she was someone special...while we only kept in touch with an email here and there since I graduated in 2000, I will forever keep her in my thoughts and prayers...as a life taken away too early from her family and friends...I feel more peaceful now knowing how strong and supportive everyone has been to her loved ones, and I hope that continues to keep her memory alive.

The tragedy of September 11th has brought this nation together in an unbelievable way. It has also brought the world together. We are no longer in our comfort zones, living our own little lives. We have been awakened, in the most horrible way. This is not a dream, as I kept trying to tell myself in the days after. This is real...it is a nightmare. Though I did not lose anyone close to me, I still feel the impact that the many lives lost has. I read what other people wrote here, about those from the BU community that were lost, and I cried. I cried, because we are all connected in this world. I am reminded everyday that those around me are connected to me, that we influence others, even though we may not know it. My prayers go out to those who have lost loved one. I am deeply sorry for your pain. I also pray for those who were injured. Your pain is unimaginable. Having grown up around Washington, DC, spent four wonderful years in Boston, and two more in New York, the images that I saw September 11th will never leave me. I'll always remember the panic I felt, not knowing if loved ones were alive or dead, and not knowing what was next. I am very lucky to have come out of this horrible event without the pain of losing someone close to me. I think it's terrible. Terrorism is unforgetable thing. But nobody wants war. Everything can be decided peacefuly. Americans should't fight against of Afghanistan. A lot of people , who don't want war, can die. Peaceful countries can be "enrolled" in this war. Take my condolences.

We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. BU Alumni Association of Japan would like to express it's deepest condolences and sorrow on the loss of many precious lives of alumni,staff members,families and related friends by the tragedy in NY.

Before being transffered to Chicago last year, I worked on the 92nd Floor of World Trade One for 5 years with the French based trading firm, Carr Futures. No one that was at work that day made it out. Out of the 70 people who passed that day I personally knew 35. Thirty- five of the best people that I have ever become associated with. A month after the attack and numerous services held in the tri-state and Chicago area to have some closer, the emptiness was subsiding. After going to the BU website and seeing how many BU alumni passed on September 11, I never want to have full closer. The magnitude of this tragedy must never be forgotten. BU has given tremendously to enhancing the American dream. Good people were lost by the thousands that day. The BU alumni were part of the American dream, they can never be forgotten...

Being here, sitting in front of my PC, connected to the Web from Italy, I realized better than with hours of talking on TV what are the feelings of Americans. Thanks to Bu and... let's take this chance of peace and committement!

I will never forget the feeling of helplessness and despair I felt on September 11th. What madness exists in my world? If there is one thing my years at BU taught me, it is that people of many nations, cultures, and religions can live, work, and learn while striving towards a common goal -- bettering our world. I'm a Sailor in the Navy. As these things happen to the United States, it's very important that everyone come together, as one nation. As I spend time in my local recruiting station, I see alot of kids come in that want to join up simply beacause of the recent events. This makes us as enlisted government personell very happy, to see that there are kids that do in fact love their country enough to join up and take several years out of their lives to serve their country, any way they can. I live in Canada, and for me, much of this is quite... shocking. Things like this do not happen very much up here. But I spend a lot of time away from my parents and siblings, and though it must be quite different, I do understand, sort of, the pain that the people the victims left behind may be feeling. I just am writing to offer my condolences and empathy. I am very sorry for your losses.

First, I want to express my condolences to the families affected by the events of Sept. 11th. Words can never come close to what I feel, but please know that you are all still in my heart. Second, it may be comforting to know that many BU alumni were among the rescuers and survivors -- the "life lessons" we all learned at BU are part of the glue that holds this country together. I live on Long Island -- not physically affected, but not a day goes by when we don't think of a relative or a friend who went to work on a normal Tuesday (or who rushed into a burning building) and is never coming back. I'm sorry, but I don't think anything but time and our faith in each other will heal that. I wish I could make it better. During my time at BU, I witnessed the end of one war (the cold war) and the beginning of another (the gulf war). I had hoped that would be it for my lifetime.

Even after two months, I am still incredibly heavy-hearted and deeply mourning for the thousands who have lost their lives. On behalf of all the BU students who are spending this semester abroad, I would like to say that we wish so much to be at home and share this pain with our fellow Americans and Boston University students. Although far away, we let not one moment go by without the tragedies closely held in our minds and hearts.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and there families. I think about them everyday. Our hearts are broken, but now our spirit. God Bless America!

Until I found this memorial today I had no idea how many BU alumni had been lost in this tragedy. Sitting in my office in Arizona nearly two months later, I am deeply saddened all over again. The picture of Saranya on her BU graduation day was especially difficult to see, because I just graduated this spring. Although I did not know her or Lisa Frost, I know that I went to school with them, that I lived in Warren Towers Freshman year with Saranya, and that I probably passed them countless times while I was at BU. My heart goes out to their friends and families, and to all my fellow BU students and alumni.

When we drove away from BU exactly one week earlier saying good-bye to our Freshman daughter my heart was so heavy wondering "Does she have all the skills she will need with this new experience of college life?" What I learned a week later was that life gave me a new experience for which I did not have all the skills I needed 1200 miles from BU. I am proud of my daughter and all the other BU Freshmen who were able to acquire the skills needed to stay at school and far from home at such a frightening time in our Nation. If we could all live prior to 9-11-01 we would, but we can,t so must be strong and make this world a better place to live. We will prevail with God at our side. A Freshman Mom

Left with very little to say after scrolling through the list, pictures, and write ups that are the victims of this tragedy, I would just like to tell the University that the site is a beautiful tribute in the face of this ugly and difficult time.

Today, on Dec. 11th, the 3rd month anniversary of our nation's tragedy I came to this site and was so moved by the photos of the BU students and their vigils and the rememberances of the lost alumni that I wanted to share these feelings and thoughts. I was a freshman at Marietta College in 1963 when President Kennedy was assassinated and I saw myself and friends in those pictures of lost innocence. Then in 1970 at Boston Universty School of Social Work, we again mourned the shooting of the Kent State student protesters of the Vietnam War instead of a graduation celebration. But by then, I had already lost my hero Rev. Martin Luther King to senseless violence and realized there was a price attached to idealism and standing up for what you believed. It did not and I hope it will not deter me or the youth of today's society from speaking our truths and keeping an ever vigilant watch on the freedoms we are priviledged to enjoy in this country. These deaths must not be in vain and I will try to live my life with intent and mindfulness of how precious it is and how fleeting it can be.

I just clicked onto the BU site to request a transcript, and almost lost my breath at the number of BU alumni we have lost. I read every profile, in alphabetical order, and made it to Peter, Sue & Christine Hanson before I started to cry. I am a British teenager and was horrified as the events of September 11th unfolded. Now, three and a half months on, and approaching Christmas, I would like to offer my continued condolences to all those affected by the attacks. I hope one day to study in the United States, a country which I see as a symbol of goodwill, hope and freedom.

I am a BU alumni (SMG '87) who lives in Florida, but I know a lot of former classmates (and dear friends) who live and work in Manhattan. I've lost touch with many of these people, so I logged on to this site to see if I could find out if they were involved in the attacks. I was shocked to see how many people the BU community lost, and I am very saddened by this. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those who were lost. I now have a renewed commitment to track down my friends and keep in touch with them more often. Life is too short not to. God Bless.

Condolences to all that have lost loved ones and families. Worst can not overcome, but the unity of the world that was formed due to this act was sign to all that its more than this that is needed to distroy us.

Peter and I spent many hours working together on projects in business school. We lost track of each other a couple of years after graduation, but I always thought I would catch up with him at a reunion. When I looked at my copy of Bostonia today, I was horrified to see his name listed among the BU family lost on 9/11. I will always remember his crazy hair, his great laugh, and his kindess. Pete and Sue were wonderful people and this loss has left a huge hole in the hearts of many people.

The tradegy of sept. 11th should not stop us from living our everyday lives. Instead it should make us stronger and more united than ever before. My utmost respects out to the victims and their families.

To Lisa, her family, and friends. I did not get the pleasure of meeting Lisa in life. I was looking through the airplane's passengers on the internet. Lisa caught my attention though. I wanted to know more about her, she reminded me so much of a girl I know and from what I've read she resembles her personality also. My aunt was scheduled on flight 11 but canceled on September 10th. To think this could have happened to someone that close to me just makes me shiver. The dark days has traveled through since September 11th. We pary for the victims of this horrible tradegy and their hearts and souls will always be loved and blessed. We will never forget the families of America who were lost. God Bless America!

It wasn't until well after the events of Sept. 11 that I found out that we'd lost Lisa in the tragedy. I had several relatives who luckily escaped from the towers, and an acquaintance who was rendered unconscious from falling debris, only to awake days later in a hospital, with her family or friends desperately worried in not knowing her whereabouts. I figured I had escaped, in that I didn't personally know anyone who'd died in the attacks. Then I heard about Lisa. I denied it at first. No, it couldn't be the bright, jovial, caring Lisa I knew. It was too upsetting to think that someone so sweet had been taken from us, in such a senseless, disgusting act of terrorism. Lisa and I worked together during the summer orientation of 1999. I'll miss her very much but will never forget her enthusiasm, her friendliness, or her almost perpetual smile. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

i am a graduate of the class of 1978 smg....i did not know any of the victims, however, i feel a dramatic sense of loss as they were alumni of the great boston university....the prayers of me and my family goes out to those loved ones who lost family and friends in the attack on america 9/11/01......those that died from bu were talented.....and just plain class people.....they will not be forgotten...may peace by with their families.....thanks for this opoortunity

I come from so a different nation --- China. And I was just shocked when heard of the tragic news of September 11 attack before I came to Boston. But now, when I actually see so many real names and their pictures listed there, I feel really very sad and sorrow. I can not imagine how the families of those dead in the horrifying attack could comfort themselves when they see the smiles in the old pictures, or recall a little detail in their together past life, or just touch one thing their lost father, mother, husband, wife, son, or daughter had ever touched also in the past. I found I'd known so little about USA when I was in China and I also found people here know little true about my motherland. I just want to say that People all over the world love the peace no matter how they life in the very different way. I never know any one of those people dead in the attack. But I want to send my sincere prayer for them. Wish them peace and love in the world they are now in.

Though many days have passed since the tragedy of September 11th, we have not forgotton the ones who lost their lives. As i stood in shock at the 125th street platform, watching the thick smoke engulf the skyline i grew up with the lady next to me turned and told me she works in the 97th floor and woke up late that morning. There was no need for more words, i knew she was lucky so did she. If i learned anything it is how fragile and precious life really is. At that moment i began to think about the special things in my life, the people i really loved, not the pity things most of us focus on everyday. It has thought me to focus on the important things in life, if there is someone out there that you love tell them, treat everyone out there with respect and love, life is fragile and the only bond holding it together is our kindness, so please lets all show some kindness wherever you can.

I was born on September 11, not 2001, but in a previous year. Even if it wouldn't have been my birthday, I still would have been really impacted by this and I hope it never happens to anyone. Now, even though my birthday is a day of mourning, I can still have hope that things go on and that we'll get through it.

I graduated from BU in May of 2000. My four years in Boston were the best of my life so far. Since graduation I have been working in Manhattan. September 11th started as a beautiful, sunny day. I was at my desk in midtown when we heard on the radio that a plane had hit the building my brother worked in. I frantically tried to reach him and was hysterical at my desk. Finally I got through to my mom who had heard from him. He's a lawyer who had worked all weekend and decided to go in a little late on Tuesday morning. It's amazing how you never know the strength you possess or what you're capable of until you are tested. Suddenly I knew I had to contact everyone I knew in NYC to make sure they were ok. I was walking down the street and avoiding other landmarks. No one knew what else to expect. I know I am truly blessed to have my brother still here with me. For several weeks after the 11th I was a complete wreck. The families of victims take my breath away with their strength. The vividness of my memories of that day will never fade. I think about it every single day and I hope everyone else does too. I was at the first BU Men's Soccer home game of the season and there was a beautiful tribute to all those our school has lost. I know we all sat in the student union and walked down Commonwealth Ave. with a freedom we did not was so precious. I feel lucky to be from New York and also have ties to the great city of Boston. The attacks of September 11 was a tragic and life-awakening experience. You can never fully understand tragedy until it happens to you. I was visiting this site as a prospective Law student, and because my boyfriend is a current student. I am from New Jersey. I know people who are dead, and some that are still "missing". I was angry, and still am. I was sad, and still am. I never knew what my parents meant when they said then knew exactly what they were doing when they heard that JFK was assasinated. Now, I know. I remember every detail about that day. And I will never forget. And so, in light of all that has come about in the past 6 months, let us never forget the victims, those who died, or the other victims- the friends, family, co-workers, etc. of those who perished. America will forever be strong, and we will not go quietly into the night...

It is strange irony that I am alumni of BU and Lisa never knew that. But then, she was quite young when I last saw her. You see, I was Lisa's Girl Scout leader for a period of time when she was in elementary school. Lisa was a giver and a wonderful friend to all. Reading the wonderful tributes here that have been left, I am not surprised that Lisa accomplished so much and touched so many lives. I have Lisa's photo posted in my office to remind myself and others what we can aspire to. Lisa will live on in the hearts of many. I only wish Lisa had had the chance to continue the good work she had begun. Our parish where the GS troop met so many years ago, celebrated a Mass for Lisa. As a parent, my heart aches for the Frost family. Hopefully, they can take comfort in the kindness that has surrounded them. May God Bless Lisa.

I was horrified and still am about the september 11th tradgey, I'm glad you share a memorial page dedicated to those who lost their lives. Its comforting to see a school have that much dedication. I'm sure other universities and colleges have put up web pages but I just wanted you to know it lifts my spirits and I'm sure others too for you to do this. I have the utmost respect for your University now even though I don't know much about it. The littlest thing can change a person's mind. Thanks again you have brightened one person's day.

September 11, 2002 will forever be the darkest day in US modern history. Having escaped lower Manhattan on that day changed my life forever. I now live every day to the fullest as every morning I wake up, it is a bonus for me and my family.

My midwestern daughter, Loren, in the past 24 hours, decided to become a future BU student. As a mother about to lose my eldest to the vicinity of September '01's tragedy.....I have nothing but pride and comfort after viewing, reading and reflecting upon this 'memorial site'. The heartfelt sympathy, Godly love, patriotism, and raw friendship, which this 'site' so openly shares, is a testimony to our States of Unity as well as Boston University's compassion. Thank you for halting my thoughts of tuition, dorm necessities, and losing my girl to the east coast. We must always, always remember with divine reverence the loss of September 2001.

I have visited this reflections site so many times and have read almost every single message. I see messages from people I knew at BU. I see messages from people that have probably never even set foot on campus, let alone in this country. But they were all moved to try to put into words what they were feeling. I listen to that Alan Jackson song a lot - "Where Where You When The World Stopped Turning?" I was on the 61st floor of 2 World Trade Center. I was watching a storm of smoke, fireballs and papers rain down between me and the Statue of Liberty. I was grasping the stair railing on the 44th floor as a jet slammed into my tower. I watched in slow motion as the top of my tower began to fall to the earth. I was running down Park Row in disbelief and denial as a huge cloud of brown smoke and dust chased me. I walked 3.5 miles back to my hotel, catching tidbits of news reports from car radios - I was sure the entire country was under attack, and I was stuck in Manhattan, thousands of miles away from home. I was so scared to be in New York for the next 3 days, but ever since I left, I want to go back. I watched TV in my hotel room or in the lobby constantly. I watched the police raid the Westin Hotel at Copley and wondered what was happening on campus. I began wondering if anyone from BU had been killed or injured. I was devastated to find out so many were. I worried about all of the students from New York (because there are SO many of you!) who couldn't reach, and eventually lost, their family or friends. I had been an RA in Warren Towers, and I worried about whether the building security was being adequately addressed or if the RAs had their hands full with paniced students and parents. I am so glad to see how the BU community pulled together after September 11th. I always knew I had picked a great school! I learned many things on that day, which I will let you in on. What you decide to do with the knowledge is your choice... 1) Make every day count. Don't hold a grudge you don't need to. Don't dwell on the negative or worry about the little problems. Do something you have always wanted to do. Enjoy and be thankful for all that you have. 2) Cherish your family. Spend time with them. Talk to them. Tell them you love them. 3) Enjoy your education and your career. Always strive to do your best and do what makes you truly happy. But remember this, when your time comes - you will regret having not said "I love you" one last time far more than you will regret not getting an A in biology or making a million dollars a year. We have all lost loved one but the one that are close to us mean alot. you just remember all the happy thoughts and memories that you have had and even if you you didn't know who half of those people were, still don't fell sorry just remember that they have a lot of people that loved them and they are all there all they need is support. so just remember that if you lose a loved one then all that you need is support so just give the people support. I happened upon this sight while trying to help my 3rd grade son research a project for school. My heart feels so heavy when I think of that day, but I also feel lucky to part of this amazing country. I don't think I will ever forget that day. How lucky I felt to be able to hug my children. I was reminded of the tragic date, 9/11, yesterday by glancing through a photo album of various effects from many people. When compared with my own agendas, the twin towers showed me the true meaning of where I stand now in life. So many of our little problems can dominate the majority of our time, and its important to realize the larger scheme of things. We must never forget this tragic incident, for it has changed the lives of so many on a much deeper and intimate level than the average person could ever know. I am one of those people, and am trying to constantly think of what can be accomplished to better my own life to help the world recover. Consider this a little slice of life.

I am a student at St. John's University in Queens New York. Although I never knew Tom, I know he must have been an amazing person. His parents are beautiful people with the biggest heart ever, therefore I know he must have been just like them. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort. I can't wait to see you in heaven some day.

September 11th changed everyone's thoughts on the world today, but not nearly as much as those who lost someone close to them. I give you all props for ebing so strong. Good luck...

As a 14 year old from Vermont, i get stereotyped with the fact that I may ahve no idea what's goign on in the world today or that all in all, I wouldn't care anyways. But I do. These acts of terrorism are acts of pure ignorance, and are done by people with cold hearts and no sence of what tolerance and diversity really mean. We all need to learn to really celebrate differences, and not hate each other so strongly for different opinions and views. I pray that one day this beautiful world of ours will rise again and we can shine. Let everyone see our true colors. And Admist all this, I have been ever so thankful to live in such an amazing and beautiful country...I have much pride in the United States, and I always will.

This message will not change what happened, nor it will wipe off the bitter tears, but it comes from the heart of a teenager who once believed that the world was wanderful: "We will do more than just remember, we will make sure we never forget."

It's funny how you just happen to find something without really looking for it. That's what happened today when I was looking for information on the university, and I found this page. It's almost been a year since the Sept. 11th attacks, yet it feels like only yesterday. At the time, I was in New Mexico, living life to the fullest, enjoying what this great country had to offer. But in hours that would all change, for Sept. 11th will continue to affect the way we live and who we are. So many people were lost and so many of us continue to mourn. Yet, I believe that this country is great and we will endure, just like we have throughout the history of this country. In the end, good will defeat evil

It is summer vacation and I was going to the BU site to find out about next semester and I clicked on the 'we remember' site instead. It has been 10 months since the event occured but I still remember so vividly the day when all of our lives changed and got affected in every way possible. I think everyone will remember where they were when they heard the news and who they were with. I was in my apartment with my roommate and we just hugged for minutes before we could even attempt to call our loved ones and see if they were ok. I am not an American but felt the pain and sorrow for the American people, like all Americans did and still do from that day. We need to be strong and stay strong together to fight the evil of the world and try to conquer strongly. My heart goes out to those who lost someone and to those in pain.

I will never forget the images of September 11th. Just yesterday I was visiting the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY looking at photographs from a September 11th exhibit. I was riveted to each photo, still in awe of the events that took place. I happened upon your website today and viewed your photo gallery of students and the outpouring of expression, care, and concern. I was moved and touched. Boston University and its student body should be commended for their "We Remember" tribute.

We remember is an awesome site. Just discovered it 7/20/02. As an alumni of BUSTH I am proud and moved by your ministry after 9-11. And I was disappointed that the BU alumni magzine about 9-11 did not include reflections from STH faculty or students even though a thousand people gathered next to STH at Marsh Chapel.

It was like yesterday when it happed, still fresh in our memories. Many lives were lost, myself I didn't loose anyone and being in Australia I didn't find out till the next day in a School Assembly. Being in year 8 and so young I was shocked and horrified. I cried during silent prey as I herd some of my friends and teachers had lost their loved ones. During the whole day we had updates on what had happend and the radios and televisons were on all day in each class. I was afraid of the friends I had up in America and for days and even months I didn't hear from some. I was also worried for a past actor that atteded Boston University, Vincent LaRusso. Though I don't know him I also cried becaused I was so worried, not just about him but also his relitives. Sorrow is still with us today as lives were lost. I send my deepest symphony to all thoses who have lost and God Bless you America.

I sat and read about each and every BU connection in your Photo Gallery this morning. Being from another country, it only took about 15 seconds to forget that they were Americans. They were my fellow human beings, and I am still stunned about what happened to them. May their souls unite.

I had the honor to be teamates with Brian on the BU Football Team. I remember my freshman year coming into camp, my first time away from New York, nervous and intimidated by the older players, one of whom was Brian. He was a big guy, one of the strongest on the squad. He was however, a kind, good natured young man with a great sense of humor. I'll always be thankful to Brian for helping me make my transition to college life a little easier. Brian always had a smile on his face and you knew he was up to something. He never took things too seriously and always brought needed levity to the team. My prayers go out to his family. He was a fine young man.

Members of the Boston University community are invited to a free memorial concert on Wednesday, September 11, 2002. At 8:46 a.m. the Avenue of the Arts Chorale, a local community chorus numbering BU faculty and staff among its members, will host the Boston performance of The Rolling Requiem, a worldwide performance of Mozart's Requiem honoring the victims of the September 11 attacks. Conceived by the Seattle Symphony Chorale, the Rolling Requiem will commence at 8:46 a.m. in each time zone, beginning at the Internatinal Date Line and proceeding around the globe, hour by hour, time zone by time zone. Choirs on every continent are participating, from Bangkok to Boston, Moscow to Montreal, Taipei to Tel Aviv. The concert will be held at the Central Congregational Church, 85 Seaverns Ave. in Jamaica Plain. Thanks to donations of time and services, the concert is free. All are welcome -- please join us!

I decided to attend BU after the attacks in September (I will be a freshman this fall). I had 5 family members in the World Trade Center Towers that September day and as well as 2 family members in the immediate area, a police officer and a CON-ED worker. Thankfully, every single one of my family members made it out alive, bruised but alive. I am still extremely emotional about the events of that day,but it was what happened that day that made me follow through with my dream of going to school on the East Coast. I learned a valuable lesson after 9/11: to live every day to its fullest and to never take life for granted. Many of my peers thought that I was crazy for wanting to leave California to be in Boston especially after 9/11, but I would have been crazy if I had decided not to attend BU. If there is one place I would want to be on 9/11 beside my beloved city of New York, it would be Boston, a city so touched by the attacks. I admire the fact that BU has made sure to honor all those who perished. I look forward to September 11, not as a day of mourning only, but as a day of celebrating life and freedom. I hope it will be a day to remember the lives of those people we lost last year and their families, and those who survived the tragedies of that day and who continue to live their lives. I peer back at a country that once took all of its freedoms and fortunes forgranted. A people who forgot the wonderful lives they all shared here, and overlooked the prosperity of a nation. I used to see a society who disregarded their patriotism and never thought twice about the rights and treasured life they had been given in this nation. It took the plannings of a terrorist, and the actions of his followers, to remind us just how fortunate we had been. Let us not forgot what happened on that fateful day. We will not find strength by forgetting what happened, but accepting what happened that september morning, and realizing that we are stronger in spite of it. We are a nation that was built by those looking for freedom from persecution, and searching for a life that would give them all the opportunities they never had before. The resilience and character of our country, and our people has been tested, pulled, and torn down. But, spirit of these people, of this nation, is something that cannot be broken. Not in a single act of terrorism, and not in a thousand. Always remember what happened that day. Remember how it tested all of us and showed us how we could pull through unimaginable times, to prove to the world that did in fact have the strength of will we always claimed. Remember the patriotism and pride that abounded from the hearts and minds of our citizens. in a blink of an eye, one year has passed us by. We a progressing forward with time. Also we should remember the people who lost their lives on this tragic date. All over the world friend and foe both stood siilent in shock in facing the terror that struck their eyes. People who died in that building are not victims alone. Many people around the world were also affected by this tragic event. From hate mails to threatening letters, these people are also the victim of 911. My thoughts are probly not to concise at this point. I am so lost. i don't know why this tragedy happened. everything is so foriegn at this point it doesn't make sense. Lisa Frost was the best friend a girl could ask for. I miss her so much. My thoughts are always with her, her family, and other families and friends whose plans and thoughts were interrupted. She sacrificed and worked very hard to get herself where she did. She continues to impress me with her accomplishments -- and at 22 was more than any parent could hope for. I know she loved Boston U. During my visit there to see her and Jan, I could feel it. They were happy to be there. They were working hard. They loved the city. Everything she showed me was something she savoured. She'll always be linked to your school -- and I believe she served it well. I'm looking forward to seeing her again. I love you, Frostyhead!

After being attacked on September 11 of last year, it is plain to see that anything can happen at any time without any warning. I know now that all of us must live life as it may be the last chance we get. I have been especially touched today, being the one year anniversary of the unspeakable crime against humanity, because of all the effort being put into remembering the fallen from New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. This is a hard time on us all and yet the perfect time for us to unite and stand strong. For the victims, the families and all those touched by that day not so long ago; That they may have the strength the persevre, hope and above all things find happiness knowing that the fallen will never die in our hearts. Times like this remind me of a movie I saw: "In this world there are heroes and there are legends; heroes get remembered but legends never die." Don't let the heroes die on the contrary keep them in your hearts...make them legends.

I can't explain why it is that out of this horrible tragedy and the thousands of lives that were lost, there are some that seem to stand out. Some stories that I can't forget and some people that I'll always think about. Lisa is one. I have no connection to her except that I'm also in my early 20's and I live in Boston. But every time I see her picture or read an article, I think about what a tremendous loss it is.

It is never wise to forget the past. It is critical for America to recognize that there are still brutal people that hate our democratic successes. Such success serves to remind such people of their own inadequacies and failures. As a people, I hope we will never forget the senseless horrors of September 11. As a people, we must be forever vigilant.

Its been more than a year, but no one has forgotten this horrific date, or the images that members of my generation will have forever. Most importantly, no one has forgotten, nor will they ever forget the victims of these attacks.

As a Parent I grieve for the Parents of the sons and daughter's lost. Lives stolen from their grasp. I wish them happy and enduring memories of times shared with their precious Children. I hope you will be able to feel the sun again someday, see the colors of the green trees and hear the birds and remember happiness again. As a Son I grieve for the sons and daughters who have had their Parents taken away. For them I wish the same, memories that will last a life time. When you look in the eyes of your own children, hear an old song or feel the closeness of a favorite friend, you will remember love. I don't know what compelled me to visit this website of a school I haven't visited in almost 2 years. Perhaps I was trying to recapture some of the nostalgia of my early college days or perhaps it's because I've become rather jaded in my view on life and some higher power was compelling me to come here so that I would be reminded of the greater good of humankind. I Just recently found this site and i really havent shared my thoughts on what happened a year ago. I think that not only was our world shaken violently,and people we loved taken from us but people's dreams were shattered. In my 16 years i never thought anything like this would happen to me, to us, to our nation. Now with the pending war with Iraq, no one seems to remember what were fighting for. September 11 has all but left many people's minds. Which should never happen. My town never held a cermony or had a place to go to remember all of those lost, to grieve with the rest of the nation. I remember on that tuesday, i had gotten up a little late and taken a shower and as i was blow drying my hair i was looking at the tv and just at that moment the second plane hit the other tower i was terrified. I had been at that building on August 12 and that creeped me out. When i got to school that day every one was talking about it and i could tell that everyone was scared. We watched the tvs in our classes like all day. One of my classmates was in hysterics because he couldnt get a hold on his brother who recently moved to the business district of New York. we had like four tvs in the living room that week becasue every channel had somthing differnt to say. I couldnt call my family because the phones everywhere were so busy, even all the way up in Albany thay were out. My school is in teh process of a play called with their eyes. Its about a high school at ground zero. this is the first thing our town has done since the attacks. the terrorists that attacked our nation on that day hoped to change our way of life, thank god they succedded, were all closer now i think.

A lifetime ago, many lifetimes ago from now I am moved to tears over the fate of strangers. Please Lord give us the strength and compassion to rebuild and re-trust in a world gone crazy. Thank you BU

I sit here pondering the lives that were lost on that senseless day. What they achieved and the potential that can never be realized. Now I have seen the faces of the innocent victims in my BU famiy and my heart weeps once again. The wives, husbands, fathers, mothers and children left behind have my my deepest sympathy. I moved to Boston in '02 to attend grad school at Harvard. I worked in the WTC complex and leaving NYC after the event was very difficult because sometimes it seems like everyone has forgotten the magnitude of what happened. Hi,..im not a BU member but i was transfered to this sight somehow and i would like to say to BU, that all of your students seem very vigiland and ive never seen a whole university light up like that. Thats truly a unique and special vigil. Also i would like to say "god bless" to all the victims of 9-11-01 and may God watch over their familys and friends. September 11th was tragic..but in a way i think it braught America together, as more of a loving community. As a New York City resident and BU student I am very touched by this moving tribute to those who lost their lives on this date two years ago. It has forever changed my life and forced me to evaluate my own safety. I think we've come a long way in these 2 years but we should never forget this date as long as we live and try to remember the impact this surprising and unfortunate event has had on our country. it doesn't matter where we live we all share these thoughts. I could have died that day, for I was supposed to be heading downtown to my internship in Lower Broadway after school on 9/11 and I'm just fortunate that I witnessed it from a safe distance and always have a soft spot for all those who died. I knew Tom through the swim team. He was a always a gentleman, a class act. I was shocked when I saw his name on a list in September, 2001, and further hurt to learn that he was the co-pilot of the first jet to hit the tower. I believe that Tom was amongst the first to fight back. An early pioneer in a struggle, which we now all live within. I choose to remember how I knew him, and what I have read about him since this event. He stood for family, his faith and love. We will never forget.

2 years later. It's moving to see that even 2 years after the fact, that people are still finding time to share their thoughts on this tragic event. Love your family and love your friends unconditionally because in the end...they are the most important things in life. hi, my name is molly. i was downloaded the song hero, by enrique iglesias, and a version of the song came up that was dedicated to 9/11 with news clips in the song. i then downloaded some news clips and looked at pictures. just a few days ago it was the two year anniversary. i remember two years ago, i was in 6th grade, and at 9 30 they calld the upper school in for a special assembly. ill never forget what my principle said, two planes have been crashed into the WTC, the US has gone into a state of national emergency. i remember thinking that my aunt and my new baby cousin had left that morning, from boston on an early flight, i thought mayb it had been then. it never relaly hit me untill just now. i just sat, listeining to this song, looking at pictures, and i started to cry. i dont kno whether anyone will read this, but i wanted 2 give an 8th grade opinion. although it has been 2 years now, i send love and support to the victims families, i almost lost two uncles to it. and i will remember everyone who lost their life on that sad day.

My Thoughts on 9-11-01 I am very sad for everyone that lost there lives. I am especailly sorry for the children of everyone especially the Fire Department. I know what it is like to go through that and when 9-11 happened i was so upset i never got over it

I have suddenly not much to say but my eyes have slowly welled with tears as I read these words of remembrance for this young lady, who, when I saw her picture, I thought, wow what a beautiful girl. Then I came to the words of her brother and I just kind of couldn't take it and the dearness of it all just kind of hit me. I am sorry about your loss. I lost my mother to cancer two years ago, about one year and five days after Sept. 11. Someone told me that the fact that you miss someone taken means that you loved-- which can be a source of gratefulness.

I still remember.

I went to St. John's middle school and Trabuco Mesa elementary school with Lisa (and almost the same high school) each for a year but unfortunately didn't know her very well. We both share the same first name meaning "consecrated to God". I remember her giving a very inspiring speech at a ceremony at St. John's middle school. I was like, "wow, I want to give a speech like that." She became the best friend of one of my very good friends, Jan Lam. She had to have been a very great gal to have been the best friend of Jan Lam. They truly did remind me of(inseparable)twins as Jan said. My deepest sympathies and prayers go to the Frost family, her boyfriend and to Jan Lam. She not only now is consecrated to God but is probably sitting on his lap playing with His hair (a place that others only wish they could be.)Say hi to Him for me, Lisa!!! We love you!!!And to the family and friends who may not know how to go on without her, you must because she beckons you as she has went before us to a place she will lead us. I think still today the victim's of Sept. 11th will always be in our hearts adn we will never forget the brave men and women that instanly came to help and made every little bit easier. just looking at photo's brings back the shock the occured that morning and it seems like it was just days ago. september 11th will always bring tears to my eyes.

Not forgotten

Tonight I walked through a park in Taiwan. It had a photo exhibit that a guy took of all of the beautiful nooks in the world. And there of course were those two towers...shining bright. As I sit here and hour later, I still have those chills of over two years ago. I just wanted to let you know I'm still thinking of you. Hope all is well up there! Until next time....

You are forever in our thoughts.

I was reading many reflections today in the morning, Memorial Day. My words can not really explain my feelings about all the pain suffered by people. I pray to Heaven to take away attacks from humanity.

What's so weird is that the memories come at the oddest times. Here I am at work, on a random Friday, thinking about that morning at the GSU with crying strangers hugging and consoling one another. This will always stay with me.

The feelings you share in this beautiful space are so brimming with love and hope. They remind me that there is so much more that unites all the people of the world than divides us. I pray for terrorism's victims and their loved ones so saddened. I pray for the end of blind hatred and self-righteousness. And, I pray for a day when the world will again see my America as we want her to be and believe she is, as a bright example of a caring humanity's best intentions and kindest efforts. May God bless us all.

I was there with my husband not because I knew some one but becaue I couldnt sleep at night.we went to Saint Lukes and got down on our knees and prayed to GOD that he would let us help somehow someway. finally after 15/16hrs.this women put her hand on my shoulder and said please help me get these hot foods out.from that point on I the Lord wiyh me we worked our butts off.we did all kinds of things we ran 20 to15 blocks all night long bringing suplies from one block to the next. finally after runnig supplies for most the night through. we finally set up a little medical booth wright across the street from the seen.I think thats when I realy felt the pain of everyones emotions and couldnt believe my eyes to this day I still remember the people I worked with I,ll never for get you or what we shared.under circumstances of what happened.one thing is for shore my heart dose go out to the world and pray the lord takes pitty on the fools that did this and help the families and freinds exspecally those little ones get through this and some how find pease and happiness ounce again. may the lord here my prayer Amen.

After reading a generous amounts of reflection, I could not fight the lump that began to form in my throat and the tears that streamed down my cheeks. I am from brooklyn NY and was in my dorm room in south campus when i first heard of the attacks on the WTC. My heart darted to my younger sister who attended high school in lower manhattan and i was concerned about her safety. I called her endlessly with no success and finally found out she was ok from another relative. After that day i thought about what it would be like to lose my little sister and vowed to spend as much time with her and to cherish each moment. Two years later she died in a violent murder that left me with many questions. September 11th 2001 brought us closer as sisters. I want to share that God has a plan for every single person, because he used that horrible tragedy to bring two sisters closer together for the remaining time that she had on this earth and not to mention uniting an entire nation. I pray for those who lost loved ones. I pray that they continue to find the courage and strength to live their lives to the fullest extent, just as their loved ones would have intended. -Cyn CAS '04

The photo gallery is so well done and accurate that seeing it brought chills, particularly those showing students watching the second plane hit the towers and the vigils. We say we'll never forget and we won't be able to with such poignant reminders. Very well done.

Having lost one person in this horrendous tragedy, I can't imagine the pain, devastation and suffering that the family members and friends of this family of 3 must feel. They will never be forgotten!

I met Dominic and Sonia in Nashville in 1995 when I was employed by AMR Topeka. These wonderful people left a lifetime impression with me. God be with you.

Another year has past, again. It seems like just a yea ago though. A friend and I hosted a Charlie's Angels Miami Vice party last night here in Taiwan, it was a lot of fun. Some people thought it wasn't the best date, but that's what I would want if it were me. Hope all is well up there. Until we meet again...

I was just beginning my sophomore year at BU on 9/11/01 and will never forget the outpouring of emotion on that terrible day. Please never take this rememberence site down, as it serves as a reminder for us all. Never forget. God Bless America.

Mark was my roommate and teammate for two years at BU. He was a great guy whom I loved to have around. My sincere condolences to Mike and his family.

I'm not the best at this, but it's been so long and yet it still hurts...There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about what happened on 9/11...Maybe a memory comes to mind, an event occurs, or even glimpsing at the clock and realizing that it's 9:11...It will be a day that I will never forget who we lost; as a family member, a fireman, and friend of those who lost someone.
