Public Health in Photos.
For its “Public Heath Lens” photo contest, the Student Senate put out a call to the entire SPH community this fall: capture the essence of public health in a single image.
Fifteen finalists were selected by the senate and displayed on November 19 in Hiebert Lounge, with Haniya Syeda’s “Prayer” emerging as the winning photo.
“The photographs here tonight are a unique glimpse into our distinct definitions of what public health is, as well as the creativity of the students of BUSPH,” Eva Zaret, president of the Student Senate, said in her welcome address. “Our definitions of this field are what guides us to an area needing attention, and our creativity is what will drive us to find solutions and answers.”
About 90 community members attended the gallery event to vote for their favorites. Syeda’s first prize is lunch with Dean Sandro Galea.
