There is 1 comment on Firearm Injuries Increased during First Year of COVID in Massachusetts

  1. Where do Firearm wounds come from? Covid-19 clearly exposed existing and exacerbated underlying racial and socioeconomic inequities and systemic stressors. This is research that highlight the association between non fatal firearm injuries and higher unemployment rates among Black and Brown males. Education disadvantage and higher incarceration rates contribute to unemployment. Hispanic male incarceration rates are 4x and Black rates > 2 times higher than Whites in Massachusetts .Congratulations to the authors on this publication and the collaboration between BU SPH CHS and BMC VIAP.
