Climate Strike

On December 6, a group of BU students met at Marsh Plaza before joining hundreds of protesters at Copley Square striking from school and work to demand an end to the climate crisis. They heard from DivestBU members Matt Tate (CAS’22) and Owen Woodcock (CAS’20), also a Sunrise Movement member, and Karen Hinata (CAS’20) of Uprooted and Rising. From Copley Square, they marched with Massachusetts Climate Strike, organized by youth activists under 18, to demonstrate at the State House, then moved inside to urge Governor Charlie Baker and Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo to pass climate legislation and protect communities from the threats of climate change. More such strikes are planned for 2020.
