STH Dean Mary Elizabeth Moore Celebrated at Retirement Event

Mary Elizabeth Moore, longtime dean of the School of Theology, was feted at a four-hour retirement event on April 22, held virtually via Zoom. She was saluted for her contributions to the school and for her legacy as a scholar, researcher, educator, administrator, church leader, peace-builder, and advocate for interfaith understanding. A worship service was followed by a community panel and a faculty panel. Robert A. Brown, BU president, congratulated Moore and announced that the STH Community Center, at 745 Comm Ave, had been renamed the Mary Elizabeth and Allen Moore Community Center.   1. My congratulations to Dean Mary Elizabeth Moore on completing your work as Dean. It is now 60 years since I graduated with an STM degree and returned to Canafa, though I still have strong feelings for Boston University School of Theology.

    I have since received a B.D. degree from St. Andrew’s College, Saskatoon, Sask. and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from St. Stephen’s College in Edmonton Alberta, recognizing my leadership in dealing with homelessness, poverty, and interfaith affairs. I was the founding president of the Edmonton Interfaith Centre for Education and Action for five years and then President of the North American Interfaith Network from 2000 to 2004, and that has been a major part of my lie.
