Photo: Marsh Chapel hosts its 49th annual Service of Lessons and Carols on December 9th. The service included a selection of Christmas carols, motets, and anthems with brass, organ, and timpani. A choir and small band/orchestra dressed in red robes stand and sit at the front of the chapel, along with the priest. People fill the pews in front of them. Marsh Chapel is known around BU, and Boston, for its annual Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols. The liturgy is modeled on the famous 104-year-old Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols held each year on Christmas Eve at Cambridge University’s King’s College.
