A young Asian man wearing glasses and a young white man wearing a white hooded sweatshirt both lean close the table in front of them as they study the small electric car they're programming. The small blue car is connected to wires and attached to a small black device that the two are working on.

Hands-On Engineering

Yang Yang Zhang (ENG’24) (left) and Kai Imery (ENG’24) on March 30 work on an object-detecting autonomous vehicle they designed as part of a four-person team in their class, Smart and Connected Systems. The course, taught by Thomas Little, ENG professor of electrical and computer engineering, offers a hands-on introduction to cyber-physical and IoT systems. For the assignment, the team had to design the vehicle to not only run, but also meet specific parameters. Photo by Cydney Scott
