A Rally in Support of Palestinians
Thousands rallied Monday evening in Copley Square in support of Palestinians, and among the sponsoring groups was BU Students for Justice in Palestine. One student, asking to remain anonymous for safety, said the rally was “uplifting and inspirational” for those advocating for Palestinian liberation, especially those with family living there. “The large number and diversity of attendees tonight shows us that we are not alone in this shared fight for justice and peace,” the student said. “It was a collective space for mourning, empowerment, distress, and hope.” The group marched to the Israeli consulate, chanting “Free Palestine” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, over 2,700 people have been killed and almost 10,000 wounded in Gaza, according to the Health Ministry there. Israel estimates as many as 200 people have been taken hostage by Hamas. More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed, most in the initial Hamas assault. Photo by Cydney Scott
