A Story of Old Worlds, This World, and Creating New Worlds
Boston Playwrights’ Theatre’s production of The Fig Tree, and The Phoenix, and The Desire to Be Reborn is set in the Iranian province of Zanjan in an orchard where all the trees have gone to sleep. There eight-year-olds Javeed (Danny Bryck [CFA’05]) (left) and Mandana (Minou Pourshariati) meet. It’s a story of old worlds, this world, and how we go about creating new worlds. The drama by MFA playwrighting student Isabelle Fereshteh Sanatdar Stevens (GRS’25) runs through March 9. Photo by Benjamin Rose Photography
