Winner: The Esplanade
The Esplanade is made up of eight-and-a half miles of paths and parkland on the Boston side of the Charles River — open space that has been preserved since 1893. The popular reservation, which was widened in 1928, extends westward from the Charles River Dam behind North Station, past the BU Bridge, all the way to the Watertown Dam.
