My toes are toasty
in fleece slipper-socks
as I earmark the articles
that tell me how
to make my lashes
appear as long as spider-legs,
and how to bend my back
so it stands
as straight as a line
in a college ruled notebook,
and what to say
to my high school crush
when I see him ten years later
when I'm out of that awkward stage
and into that tiny black dress,
and which celebrity
ordered which non-fat latter
after cheating
and a shopping spress to Fred Segal.

I like it when they tell me
the color that my lover's hair will be [auburn]
and when I will meet him [the 9th]
just because I was born in October.
